Kawah Putih is a highly acidic volcanic lake sitting 2,430 meters above sea level. You can view the color-shifting water from multiple vantage points around the crater.
The main attraction covers 5 hectares dedicated to tourism within the dormant Mount Patuha. The water changes from bluish-green to pale white, contrasting with the white sulfuric sand. Visitors reach the crater edge via a 15-minute ride on the Ontang-Anting shuttle.
Because of the strong sulfur fumes, stay near the lake for only 15 to 30 minutes. You should wear a mask at all times. Touching or swimming in the highly acidic water (pH 0.5 to 1.3) is strictly prohibited.

This is the main viewing area where you stand on white sulfuric sand next to the turquoise water. Keep your mask on to avoid sulfur inhalation sickness. Limit your time here to no more than 30 minutes to prevent headaches.

This elevated viewing platform requires a short hike up from the main crater area. It offers panoramic views of the entire lake and surrounding mist. Visit in the early morning for the best lighting, though it requires an additional small entry fee.

This bamboo boardwalk traverses the Cantigi forest located above the crater lake. It allows you to get unique vantage points away from the main crowds on the beach. Use this path for clear photography among the highland trees.

A long wooden pier extends directly into the acidic lake water. It yields close-up photo opportunities right above the shifting colors. You must pay a small extra fee to walk onto the pontoon.
